Testimonials

These are some of the testimonials that we have received.

My girlfriends and I spent a wonderful weekend at this beautiful cabin. The photos don’t do it justice. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed. Loved sitting out on the back deck and watching the sun rise over the trees. The cabin is not too far from town, but far enough that you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The kitchen was spotless and the appliances are top notch. We had the most wonderful time in the cabin and made many wonderful memories. We can not wait to come back!

Dear Claudio & Lisa, Wow! What a beautiful cabin but hardly “roughing it” in the woods of West Virginia. Crabtree and Evelyn bath products and the outstanding electronics! I had never heard of a shower mousse or Roku before coming here:) Our lab/hound and English lab loved playing in the snow. Lots of snow!!! We had none at home so this was a treat. Thank you so much for providing us with a cozy getaway location so close to Cacapon State Park where the guys could practice shooting clays and a lovely stream at the bottom of the hill to explore. We will be sure to try to return and certainly tell our friends about this lovely cottage

We went to Berkeley Springs to get away from it all; and it certainly was that. We were able to do day trips or just hang around and do nothing with no interruptions from outside world. We had a very relaxed and rejuvenating stay. Brier (lab) enjoyed the Koi pond and the woods to run around in. We were overall quite happy with our stay at the rental and would recommend it for anyone wanting to relax and do nothing; or go sightseeing.

Jack Russell’s Ridge is very comfortable as well as pet- and child-friendly! We very much enjoyed our stay in your lovely home, and we appreciated all of the little touches you have made to ensure your guests are comfortable in your home away from home. Thank you very much!

Very comfortable hi tech cabin in a great area. There are tons of things to do in Berkeley Springs. The cabin was clean and had tons of amenities. If you forget wine they have a wine refrigerator and you can purchase bottles from the host. We stayed for three nights and it was a great, memorable experience.

Joe

The cabin had a very well-stocked kitchen. It was very private and quiet. The high tech amenities - large TV's, wifi, roku TV, satellite and charging stations amd computer worked great! We really like the wine frig, although we didn't imbibe, it was a nice option. Very pleasant stay.

Denise

Very nice space. Quiet neighborhood. A lot of technological amenities in a setting that feels far from the city, while still having a bit of an urban feel inside. Really close to Berkeley Springs, which is a lovely town.

Roxy

We had a great stay here for a long weekend. Kids and dog enjoyed the yard, fire pit, and woods with stream out back. TV and all gadgets were excellent and kept us entertained. Well stocked kitchen with plenty of cookware and dishes. Nice lodge experience!!

Melissa

Amazing relaxing long weekend. There were some fun obscure boardgames that we enjoyed. Perfect couples retreat! We could even bring our dog. Highly recommend!

Our family of five had a wonderful stay here. The cabin was the perfect size for us. The space was very cozy and felt both rustic and modern - perfect! The location was very nice for us, as we went hiking at Cacapon every day and it is right down the road. We appreciated the Roku, kid sized cups and plates, the washer and dryer, and the bidets. We found this to be a kid-friendly space and ours had a blast with the cupboard full of games and shelf full of books (and, of course, they liked playing with Alexa). We would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed Retrievers Retreat! The cabin was very cozy yet plenty of room for us and any party of 3 to 6 easily. The location is great...close to Berkeley springs, but far enough away for a quiet nature -filled getaway. Very nice that the road to the cabin is close to the main road to town. The property was peaceful and scenic. We enjoyed walking down to the water and along the creek. It was very relaxing. The cabin was well stocked and comfortably furnished. We were missing nothing! The host made sure we had contact info for any questions or concerns and checked in during our stay. Would highly recommend Retrievers Retreat. And we would definitely return!!

Jean

What a lovely cabin! Retriever’s Retreat offered my wife and I a very relaxing experience. Everyting was really clean and kept up. The yard was great for the dogs to play in. The location really worked for us being so close to Cacapon State Park. We would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Our family had a wonderful time and really enjoyed all of the amenities this cabin had to offer. It was peaceful, restful, and had the feeling of seclusion. The log bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept on. We brought our dogs, and though the oldest was “on his last legs”, they really enjoyed themselves in the yard and especially liked hanging out with us on the deck. He passed away just yesterday, and we were happy that one of his last experiences was enjoying a last vacation with us. Thanks for a lovely time!!!

I’ve now stayed at all three Berkeley Springs Getaways properties. I love them all, each for different reasons. Collie’s has a great location that’s close to town and convenient for some R&R. Jack Russell’s Ridge house was amazing and the most pet friendly. It was in a nice, wooded area, but still close to town. Labrador’s Retreat was the most secluded and definitely great for people who are looking to fly under the radar. The trip to Berkeley Springs will be an annual one for me!

This place us well is well equipped and so cozy and cute!! We loved our stay and enjoyed the firepit and video games galore! We were snowed in the first day but that didn't stop us from taking a hike down to the stream aand cooking a big meal in the stocked kitchen. We still defintely be back as we had such a great time! Thank you to the owners ..for providing such a great house!

Claudio was an accommodating and responsive host. The cabin has all the modern amenities one could want in a rustic and rural escape. Retriever’s Retreat is a stone’s throw from Cacapon State Park, and the hiking there is spectacular. We also managed a hot spring/spa visit, skiing at Whitetail, and visits to some local haunts including the brewery, Lot 12, and the famed Troubador Lounge. While we were mostly active during our two night stay, the Retreat also lends itself to some simple solace if that is more in order. Look forward to a return visit!

Great place peaceful easy to 7 wind with wine and book on deck. Back yard big enough to play football. Great for dogs has fenced in area right off deck. I could let my my little guy loss on deck with me. Inside house is beautiful!! Very comfortable! ! Close to everything in Betkley Springs and Hancock. Can't say enough nice stuff!!!

A great secluded spot ~20 mins from downtown Berkeley Springs. The place has tons of nice touches with thermostats for each bedroom, bathroom, gathering area, etc. Very cool connectivity in different rooms, wonderful backyard. Definitely recommend

Phil

The cabin was just as described and had all of the essentials needed for our stay. We really enjoyed escaping for the week to relax in this quiet spot in the woods! Our dog also enjoyed exploring the area and watching all of the deer that came through the backyard. The cabin is secluded, yet not too far from town and any stores. Cacapon State Park was a beautiful spot to explore and close by as well. We highly recommend staying here when visiting this area!

Kimberly

The place was great! We had a great week tucked away in the woods. The cabin is very comfy and cute. It was just what we needed. The local parks are a great place to take the dogs for a day out! I would definitely rent the home again for future visits 🙂

Claudio's cabin is a wonderful place in a beautiful area of WV. It provided some much-needed quiet time for me, as well as the technology and connectivity my girlfriend needed for work. The cabin was well-stocked with virtually everything we needed, and the Berkeley Springs guidebook was particularly useful. I highly recommend this place.

Thanks so much for sharing your lovely cabin with us and allowing our dogs to accompany us. It was their first “vacation” with us and it was nice not to have to find a house sitter and then wonder how the dogs were doing at home wishing I could have them to take on walks. We walked a LOT and met the nice neighbor across the street and her pup that runs the fence line for exercise. Cabin was really clean when we arrived and we tried to leave it clean before we left. I used the Swiffer with a paper towel to get up hair and wet snow tracks but couldn’t find a vacuum. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

My husband and I along with our little dog sammie spent a week here last August. The cabin was quite nice, very comftorable and provided all the things we needed. We enjoyed the large DVD collection and watched a new movie every evening. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants of Berkeley Springs and enjoyed trying the mineral baths. We also took some day trips and our favorite was to Winchester VA less than an hour away. I would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely relaxing cabin!

Julie Susanne

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jack Russell’s Ridge. The cabin provided a quiet home away from home and was very dog friendly. The cabin was set back from the street but was still very close to Berkeley Springs and the town of Hancock, where you can catch the hiking trails. The house provided all the comforts of home while being away! Thanks for the extras such as a pet bed, bowls and toys! Great stay!

Kara L.

This might be our new favorite spot - it’s close enough but far enough that it really gives us a break from our concrete jungle lives. It was perfect space to enjoy the quiet & hang out in nature with each other & our dogs!

This cabin is in an excellent location. It is close all the outdoor and indoor adventures of town and the local parks, but far enough away to feel like you have escaped to the woods. The beds and linens are amazingly comfortable!

Melinda

The cabin is true to listing, with many great touches that made the stay great! We enjoyed the fire pit and local sights. The streaming TVs and high tech touches make indoor days fun as well. Well stocked kitchen and comfy beds made for a happy group all around.

This is a great house that allows you to get away and have everything you need. We don't usually use technology, but we did want to watch election results come in so we used the TV in the living room. We also got a chance to make a fire and enjoy the outside. We had everything we needed. Very well stocked kitchen.

This is the place to go if you’re looking to get away from your daily grind and get cozy. Claudio and Lisa have truly thought of everything that guests could need in terms of amenities. Their communication before and during your stay far exceeds any other host I’ve had. I’ve been to Berkeley Springs several times before but learned a lot from the suggested itineraries and local recommendations in the detailed guest book provided. What I love about this property the most is the location. It’s close to the town center to get anything you need but feels as if you’re miles away from others.

Caitlin

This chalet is at a great location, close to hiking and biking trails and beautiful views from the ridge. It's secluded and quiet. We appreciated that our dog was welcome here. The cabin has a lot of tech amenities which some people will enjoy. We just used the WiFi and the nicely equipped kitchen.

Doris

There isn't much I can say that hasn't been covered by the other reviews. We really enjoyed the deck, yard and grill, the beds were comfortable and the TVs and Bluetooth speaker are great if the weather keeps you indoors. It's also easy to find or get anywhere from. Claudio was accommodating and quick to respond to any questions/concerns.
